A traditional fireplace used to be the center of the home in times past. It was in front of the comforting fire with its crackling sounds that families converged at night to swap stories about their day.

Times have changed, however. There are now more efficient, less burdensome, and more environmentally friendly means of heating the home, not to mention the tax credits that come with the purchase of these alternatives. One of these is the Hudson River HRSPSBINS Contemporary Insert Pellet Stove.

If you have an old fireplace that you longer plan to use, the insert is just the thing for you. You can still lounge in front of the old fireplace, except that this time you don’t have to keep getting up to feed and stoke the fire, you don’t have to worry about back drafts, and you don’t have to worry about contributing to the smog and haze hovering over your city.

The Hudson River HRSPSBINS Contemporary Insert Pellet Stove has a hopper with a capacity of 50 pounds of wood pellets. Depending on the temperature setting you choose, the 50 pounds can take 45 hours to burn. The pellets are automatically pushed into the burn pot by an auger where they are burned to produce a maximum BTU/hour rating of 50,000. Its efficiency rating of 86% exceeds that of other pellet stoves.

A digital board control regulates the functions of the pellet stove insert. With it, along with an optional thermostat, you can set the stove to automatically control heat output by alternating between the lowest possible temperature and the one you pre-set. You can also have it shut down and restart at pre-set temperature levels. Of course, if you’d rather set the temperature levels yourself, you can always set the control board to a manual operation.

The Hudson River Insert is constructed out of heavy steel. It features a bay window allowing you to view the fire from three different points of view. You can opt for a gold or nickel window trim to make the stove look more appealing.
