Bixby Ugly Black Box Corn and Pellet Stove

Designed to be functional rather than beautiful, the Bixby Ugly Black Box Corn and Pellet Stove features only straight lines and right angles. It has absolutely no frills or trims. There is no shiny chrome or gold plating. It is just a box painted in black with a glass window through which you can see the fire inside, a venting system above the window, and a drawer below for collecting ash.

The stove burns corn or any biomass pellets. This provides you flexibility in your choice of fuels, which is an important feature considering that the cost of specific fuels can fluctuate.

Delivering a maximum heat output of 70,000 BTUs, the stove can quickly heat a room as large as 3,000 square feet. Minimum output, on the other hand, is 12,000 BTUs. Instead using a conventional auger to carry fuel to the burn chamber, the stove relies on a rotating wheel that incorporates slots. A slot gathers fuel while it is at the bottom of the wheel, and drops it into the burn chamber when it reaches the top.

When dropped into the burn chamber, the fuel is ignited by a double igniter system that quickly kindles them. In the event that one of the igniters fails, the other will continue operating. Fuel feed rate is automatically modified to correspond to the burn rate.

Fuel is stored in a large hopper with a capacity of 300 pounds. This can give you up to 160 hours of heating without the need to replenish the hopper. This, however, can be doubled to 320 by adding up to three hopper extensions, each with a capacity of 100 pounds.

A built-in blower with a convection capacity of 275 CFM helps move heated air from the stove into the room. Thermostat, however, is optional.

Constructed from fabricated steel, the Bixby Ugly Black Box Corn and Pellet Stove is a sturdy and durable piece of equipment that can be expected to last. It has dimensions of 40.0″ H x 26.5″ W x 30.0″ D.
